Fun Fido Facts - 5 facts about Dogs!

Over the next few weeks and months, I will be doing Pretty Pooches special "Fido Facts". 5 facts on different breeds of dog, training, grooming, and all things doggy!

Fun Fido Facts - Dogs!
  1. The scientific name for a dog is Canis Lupus Familiaris. They have been domesticated and companions to us humans for around 10,000 years.

  2. It is widely accepted that the Chihuahua is the worlds smallest breed of dog, although many Yorkshire Terriers and Pomeranians are very close.

  3. The worlds largest breed is often accepted as being the Great Dane. However it has been argued that many Mastiffs are larger, or at least heavier, and that the Irish Wolfhound is sometimes taller.

  4. The oldest dog ever recorded was an Australian Cattle Dog named Bluey. He was 29 years and 5 months old when he passed away. In human years, this makes him around 160 years old!

  5. Most dogs are born with their markings, however there is an exception! When Dalmation puppies are born they are completely white, their spots develop over their first few weeks.
